Obituary for Betty Lou Stockton (Yakley)

Betty Lou  Stockton (Yakley)
Betty Lou Stockton, 85, of Van Buren passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017 at her home. She was born in Van Buren to Herman and Carrie (Woods) Yakley on February 9, 1932. She was of the Methodist faith and was a charter member of New Bethel United Methodist Church. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Charles; her parents and her siblings, Loreane Helm, Lora Peters, Flora Mae Neidecker, Audrey Moses, Patricia Ann Knox, Clyde Yakley and Herman Yakley, Jr.

Betty graduated from Van Buren High School and retired from Fort Chaffee. She was a member of the Crawford County Car Club and past member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary.

Funeral service will be 10 AM Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with a private burial after the service under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren, Arkansas.

Betty is survived by her children, a daughter Susan Jane Mc Cartt and husband, John; a son Wesley Stockton and wife Betty; three grandchildren, Courtney Jane Castaneda and husband Louis, Michael Scott McCartt and wife Allyson and Nicholas Woods Stockton and wife Carmen; five great-grandchildren, Tatum Lee Castaneda, Cash Louis Castaneda , Makinley Grace McCartt, Foster Patrick McCartt and Jasper Woods Stockton; two step-grandchildren Megan Brown and Todd Brown; one sibling, Zelma Dean (Sally) Briscoe and husband Raymond.

Pallbearers will be Louis Castaneda, Michael McCartt, Nicholas Stockton, Tommy Knox, Danny Hall and Donnie Hall.

Honorary pallbearers will be 1945-1948 Van Buren Reunion Committee; Fort Chaffee gang retirees and Crawford County Car Club members.

A special thank you to Barbara Moore, Dottie Mefford and Alesha Moore for all the love and care you gave Betty in the last months of her life, and to Peachtree Hospice for your care and support during our difficult time.

The family will visit with relatives and friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Ocker Funeral Home, 700 Jefferson Street, Van Buren, Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Peachtree Hospice.
