Thelma Ruth  Johnson (Archer)
Thelma Ruth Johnson, 90, of Fern, Arkansas passed away on December 13, 2016 in a Fort Smith hospital. She was born November 22, 1926 in Mulberry, Arkansas to the late Joe and Fannie Archer. She graduated from Mulberry High School, attended Fort Smith Jr. College (UAFS) and taught school in a one room school in 3 different locations in the Mulberry area. She married Chester Johnson November 19, 1949 and they resided in the community of Fern until his death in 2008.
She was a member of the Mulberry Chapter of the Eastern Star where she was a past Worthy Matron. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, sewing and fishing.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband; four brothers, John Henry, J.D., Bill and Harmon Archer; two sisters, Vernita Smither and Ruby McCabe.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Ocker Chapel of Alma with interment in Shores Lake Cemetery. Reverend Scott Reed will be officiating.
The family will visit with friends and family from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2016 at the Ocker Funeral Home of Alma, 917 Hwy. 64 East, Alma, AR.
She is survived by one daughter, Ann Gentry (Ted) of Van Buren, AR; one son, Randy Johnson (Linda) of Fern; her sister, Betty Shipp of Mulberry, AR; 3 grandchildren, Chandra Owen of Allen, TX; Michael Johnson of Fort Smith; Megan Sanders of Barling; two step Grandchildren, Terrell Gentry of Redlands, CA and Tammy Barnett of Rogers; 10 Great Grandchildren; 5 Step Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Owen, Josh Sanders, Kerry Bob King, Mike Reeves, Randy Mendenhall, Mike Kimes, Steve Steinsiek and Phillip Jordan.
