Obituary for Rayburn Sosebee

Rayburn  Sosebee
Rayburn L’Dean (R.L.) Sosebee was born May 21, 1922 in Wilson, Oklahoma to Survetus Ford and Mary Alice Morris Sosebee. He moved to Arkoma in 1937, and aside from his service in the military, lived there until his death on May 30, 2018.
He served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II and the US Navy during the Korean War. He earned several medals during his service.
After returning home he opened a television and radio repair service. He was also a licensed airline pilot. He served as town marshal, volunteer fireman, civil defense director, city councilman and mayor. He was a member of the American Legion and the First Baptist Church of Arkoma.
R.L. was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Irene; his brother, Noel; a daughter, Shirley; and a granddaughter, Krystal.
He is survived by five children: Brenda Capelle of Van Buren; Ford Sosebee and wife Susan of Van Buren; Roger Sosebee of Lavaca; Gary Sosebee and wife Teresa of West Fork; and Kelly Evans and husband Tim of Republic, MO.; 10 grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 2-4PM on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home in Fort Smith, AR.
A private burial will be Monday, June 4, 2018 in Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Smith, AR.
