Charles E. Roper, 79, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 in a local hospital. He was born on February 7, 1937 in Liberty Hill, Oklahoma to Herman and Adah (Pope) Roper. He retired after 36 years as a cameraman from KFSM in Fort Smith. He was a member of Evangel Temple and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aeire # 208 where he had served at president from 1972-1973. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen.
Funeral services are 1:00 PM Friday, February 3, 2017 at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
He is survived by his sister, Glenda Bise of Arkoma, OK; three step daughters, Pat Galano, Barbara Elmore and her husband Jerald and Betty Beckman and her husband Fred all of Fort Smith, AR; two stepsons, Wayne Taylor of Arkoma, OK and Richard Taylor of Fort Smith, AR; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Justin Cameron, Richard Galano, Doug Schlaefli, Daylan Czarnikow, Jason and Caleb Bise.
The family will visit with friends from 5-7PM on Thursday at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home, 4500 Jenny Lind Road Fort Smith, AR.
